Funding Opportunity for Univ. Renovations

If you are running (read ‘lost control of’) an old  building  at a university or college, that defies any efforts of climate control, this may probably interest you.
The Federal Government launced the BCTEP (Building Construction Technology Extension Program) program this month. It would provide funding to pilot projects in the range of $250,000 to $1,300,000  for a period of up to 2 years.

The program calls for ‘re-tuning’, essentially retro-commissioning, of existing commercial or industrial buildings, with the goal of reducing energy wastage. The presence of a building automation system seems to be a pre-requisite. Call your local Manufacturing Extension Partenership http://www.nist.gov/mep/ to form a partnership.  Application deadling is March 30, 2012.

Spotlight on Kirksey’s Bellfort Early Childhood Center Project

What was once a sterile, cold medical buiding has been transformed into a bright, fun space for young children to learn, play, and grow. Kirksey was hired by HISD to renovate this 400-student pre-k/kindergarten facility and create a space that is nurturing, positive, and tailored to the young students. Check out the link below to see the finished product and learn about the story behind Bellfort.
